After trying to assist some members of the disadvantaged communities in the Helderberg area, it came to our attention that there is a lack of consistent support in many of these areas. Many of the animal-based rescues tend to focus on rehoming animals from these communities, which is fantastic, but many of the community members are left behind.
While we have huge admiration for the rescue organisations that operate in these areas, we want to try to tackle the root causes of the overflow of animals: lack of education and unsterilised animals. If we can build trust in these communities by offering support, we might have more success with convincing people to sterilise their animals and preventing illegal breeding.
Respect & Compassion
What We Do
Outreach
We do outreach days in the different areas we cover, providing aid wherever we can. Outreach days include vaccination days, education days, and we hope to have some sterilisation days.
Education
During our outreach days, we try to educate owners on responsible pet care, including information on sterilisation and vaccinations.
Feeding programmes
Many of the owners in disadvantaged communities need a bit of help while trying to get on their feet. We try to help them save costs by subsidising food and other necessities.
About
Our mission is to provide support to the voiceless.
Animals cannot speak up for themselves, so we hope to be their voices. But many of the people in these disadvantaged communities are voiceless as well.
Our goal is to build our network as much as possible. As we grow, we hope to offer more assistance to the voiceless members of the community as well.
